Max Olupot is the Partnerships, Planning and Learning Officer and Field Schools Coordinator; at AFAAS Secretariat, Kampala. His portfolio is Partnerships and Collaborations building; Programme Coordination, Strategic Planning and Management, and Quality Assurance. He holds: Masters Degree in Rural Development & BSc Agriculture (Agricultural Economics) from Makerere University, Uganda; First Class Diploma in Agriculture, from Arapai Agricultural College. Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management, and a Candidate for Masters of Management Studies; Uganda Management Institute. He also holds a number of Certificates, most notably, a certificate in Farmer Managed Advisory Services from Nordic Agricultural Academy, Tietgen International – Denmark.

He has over 15 years of experience working with multi-stakeholders at operational and management level. He has good appreciation of rural development theories, participatory methodologies and tools, with good understanding of innovative approaches in extension and advisory services, innovation processes and innovation systems, CAADP processes and pro poor frameworks in agriculture in Africa. He has greater appreciation of Africa’s extension and rural development reforms; national policies and frameworks for agricultural development. As, Research Coordinator on Farmer Field Schools under International Potato Centre (CIP) Kampala office, he established and mentored high level farmer organisations in Sweet potato value chain in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, currently he is a member in the Food and Agriculture Organisation, Steering Committee for Institutionalisation of Farmer Schools in East Africa. As a member of CAADP Technical Networks on Research and Extension, he has provides hands on experience and technical expertise on innovative extension approaches, methods and tools; and strategic planning, Knowledge management, visioning for extension and advisory services for the continent. He supported institutional capacity building for AEAS actors for innovation through AFAAS Country Fora. Further, he conspicuously plays a pivotal role in connecting CFs and global actors in agricultural development through partnerships and collaborations with multi-stakeholders in agricultural innovations systems, e.g. the Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services.
